My Station Wagon
Now that the snow is gone, I’m looking forward to schlepping stuff around in my Burley again…groceries, library books, 2peas orders to UPS, the occasional child. It stands to reason that half of my trips are with an empty trailer. And you would be surprised how many strange looks I get. But I would argue that most of the cars on the road are empty half the time too.
My first ride of the new year took place last week on a particularly sunny day. I was bringing some boxes up to school for the first graders, and halfway there a wheel popped right off the trailer. It took me about 40 seconds to put it back on, and I was back on the road. I realized then, had I been driving a car, the repair would have been considerably more difficult. In fact, I probably would have just called State Farm to get roadside assistance.
So here’s my ride: a purple Specialized Rockhopper, purchased in Boulder, Colorado in 1993. And a Burley D’Lite trailer, purchased used in the classifieds in 2002.

you are such an inspiration! i would have every reason in the book to why it wouldn’t work for me…mostly that it is cold out there! but i know that it is colder where you live! off to pump my bike tires….=)
