What to do with an old window
I’m not one to hold on to junk, but this window was an exception. We found it in the basement of our old house in Alger Heights. It didn’t fit any windows, so we have no idea where it came from. I always liked the proportions, and I had the idea that someday I would make it into something. Ideas varied over the years: coffee table, multi-paned mirror, donation to brother-in-law Steve who happens to create paintings on old windows…
I finally decided to use it as a picture frame. I cut 5×7 holes into 8 pieces of matboard, and printed up a selection of photos. This set has something red in each frame because I planned to hang it in the dining room, but the thing is so stinking heavy that I settled on using the mantelshelf. Now that I have the mats cut, I can change the images anytime. VoilĂ . A rotating art gallery.
